Remember the Lime Green Chevrolet Sonic Autobot in ‘Transformer’s 2′? That’s been awhile ago, and the Sonic is just now getting into production. Why? The official word is that GM wanted to make sure the U.S. was ready to embrace the sub-compact market. My guess is that strong sales of the new Ford Fiesta probably had something to do with it. The vehicle has decent styling, but is it good enough to erase memories of GM’s previously awful attempts at building small cars? Corvair, Vega, Cimarron, EV1, Cavalier… need I go on? Still, the new Cruze is an impressive effort (if not the prettiest thing in the world), so let’s hope for the best.

I’ve been impressed with the little Sonic ever since I read a review from the Johnny Londoff Chevrolet blog. I think what it has that other subcompacts don’t have it’s a sporty look. Sure, it’s small- but it doesn’t LOOK like it.
