Kudos to Nissan on this… Despite just about every SUV on the planet ditching their off-road roots and going to a “friendly for grocery trips” unibody design, Nissan has said that it’s next gen Xterra will continue on with a traditional ladder frame. If you’re looking for an SUV for more ‘Mommy’ orientation, Nissan also offers the uni-body Rogue and (new for 2013) Pathfinder. It’s been my experience, though, that most people who buy SUVs for simple around town driving would actually enjoy a mini-van better.
